    Default Yamaha Wave Raider Impeller

Can someone tell me how to change the impeller on a 1997 Yamaha Wave Raider 700? Does the impeller thread on and off the shaft? What is the best way to remove and then replace it?

yes it screws on....un screw it clockwise to remove it from the shaft...you will need a drive shaft holder tool, a large vice and a large wrench

Attached is a diagram I did for removing the prop with the impeller duct on the shaft. Put the spline end in the vice with the axle shaft tool, and rotate the prop as shown. You may have to use a piece of pipe on your wrench for extra leverage. It spins off as shown and slides off the shaft. Hope this helps.Click image for larger version.
