seadoo 787 long cold crank times

I have two 97 seadoos with 787's. After sitting for a day you need to hold the throttle partially open while choking to get to fire. Otherwise you need to crank with choke only for probably a minute. What do I need to do?

I have a 97 xp and i also have to hold the choke to start it, but it seems pretty normal to me! it will crank over about 10 times when its cold (with the choke out), then it will start.

a full min would be to long and you will kill the starter . it could be that your choke is not shutting fully or that you could use a carb rebuild . or atleast a tuneup .

When starting any model Sea Doo that has an accelllerator pump on the carbs, like the 1997 XP, you should squeeze the throttle 3-4 times to prime the motor. As long as the carbs are supplied with fuel ( sometimes you may need to crank the starter motor a bit to get fuel into the carbs), a few squeezes will get some fuel into the motor for an easier cold start.
