can someone explain to me what the wear ring does, what causes it to wear. I replaced my wear ring not more than a month ago and my seadoo xp800 (1996) was running like a top, but today i went out on it, and now it is doing the same thing, is this possible that it is the wear ring again? i was pulling a tube behind it the last time i was out. anyways my next question is......how hard is it to replace a wear ring, or does it have to be done by a dealer. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

you can repalce the wear ring yourself but make sure you read how to do it correctly. -

The wear ring usually lasts for years, or until you catch a stick or rock in between it and the impellor and ruin it. It, along with the impellor is what makes forward thrust.
If your ski cavatates ( impellor slips instead of powering the ski forward) you could have impellor or wear ring damage, something wrapped around the driveshaft, or a bad pump-to-hull- sealing job.
Pull the pump out and detirmine what your problem is.Bill O'Neal <br>
