  • Problems with my core..

I bought a 96 XP from a guy for a decent deal because it had a seized motor. Since I have no experience with skis I figured I would drop it off at my local shop and have a SBT shot block put in it. Well, my dealer called me today and said at one time someone did a hack job on a previous rebuild. There was one spot with GOBBS of JB weld. I still want a SBT shortblock but my dealer is nervous of getting back billed for a core with more damage they initally thought. He said he cant be sure how much damage was there unless he grinds the JB Weld off and it would not make sense for me to pay him to do that. How do we handle this?

    Thanks,
    Tim

    Re: Problems with my core..

Have him pull the core, send it to SBT yourself, let them charge you. Get new engine, and have the dealer install it.

No mark-up for the engine, and a small welding fee from SBT.
