Re: GP1200 Exhaust and primer Kit

Does the primer have to be on all three cylinders or is one sufficient?

        Thanks!

I think it's better on all three as you are more sure it will fire up. Easy on the starter if all three are done I would think.

True True......Thats how we get ahead in life(most of us anyways :) ),and thats whats great about these forums and others I frequent.

On the other question...I usually see primer lines run to the front and rear carbs.

You should get the primer for a three cylinder and prime all three carbs

              It just makes sense right.

you can probably get away with just priming the front carb - but i went for all three just so it pulls the fuel through quicker and my battery doesn't die on me. i always do just the two pumps on primer and then try to start - so as not to flood the engine.

Wouldnt it be almost impossible to flood one of these since there would be no oil in the gas? I remember dumping cups of gas down old four strokes and they always started. Flooding was always carb related.

As a test, I pumped my primer ten times and it still fired up on my 650 VXR.

You might want to rethink the cable ties for holding the fittings in place though. If they happen to get brittle and snap they're going straight into the crankcase and may do some damage. Maybe you could pull the screen and clean thouroughly then solder the fittings in place? Anyone else have an idea?

Thanks for sharing, I bought a primer kit years ago but never installed it since it said I needed to remove the carbs. This is so simple.
