    Lightbulb SBT Core Exchange Policy

I was reading about wreckless and his issue with core exhanges and charging for damaged cores and what-not, and it got me thinking.

I have the 587 white motor in my ski, and I'm going to a 720. I know SBT's standard policy is to only exhange motor for motor, same size.

I'm impressed with what I read on here about SBT...their quality of work, their service, their shipping...all sounds awesome.

When the time comes, I really want to get the motor from SBT. Both the 587 white and the 720 cost the same from SBT, is there a way that maybe I could just pay extra money, sort of a charge for exchanging my 587 for a new 720? If not, will the policy ever change to be able to do so?

No, the policy is straight forward...even exchange only. No exceptions.

Find a 720 motor to send in for your core to SBT...but make sure there is no major damage.

That's kind of a waste of money...if I purchase a 720, in any condition (at least good enough to exchange), then I'll rebuild it myself for cheaper.
Looks like my only option is to get a beater engine and rebuild it or get a running one with low hours.
I just figured since I already have the 587, it wouldn't be a huge deal to exhange for a different motor. I guess I was wrong.

I know you don't think that 720 is going to plop right in and plug everything up, and fire it up!

Your better off buying a 720 XP.

I know I may be relatively new, but I've definitely done my homework. Swapping out the electrics isn't ABSOLUTELY necessary, but I'm doing it anyway because the electrics are better from the 720. The only thing needed to get the motor to fit is the 720 bedplate. driveshaft and pump are the same, as some other parts are exchangable as well. I'm not expecting to pull out and drop in, this is an all-winter project.
Plus, your comment was pretty off-topic.
