i live in north florida. . just a lil south of jacksonville to be exact, and i keep hearing about winterization (or something like that). . and i would like to know what that is, also can i just run it dry hooked up to the water hose once a week?. . .will that do the trick to keep going for the following spring and summer?

Change the pump oil. Grease the driveshaft. You can start it for up to 30 seconds without the hose hooked up. Keep a battery Tender on the battery all winter.

            Re: winter

Best to keep it charged. But you can disconnect it. Negative terminal 1st. then charge the battery to full once a month. Check the battery level.

A little note don't put too much grease on the driveshaft or it could blow a seal so I hear

I spray the engine compartment down with wd-40 to prevent the mildew from forming and to protect all the electrical connections.

also, just incase you dont already know this, make sure you dont put the battery directly on a cement floor.

                    Re: winter

Not true. That has not been a problem for many, many years. Battery cases are now made of polymers that have no leak through to ground.

                      Re: winter

Why even take the battery out of the ski? or is that a Florida thing. Don't want it to roll over when the next Hurricane blows through. Disconnect and leave it in the ski.

                        Re: winter

That's a real good way to kill a battery. They need to be kept properly charged - outside the ski.

:emoticonl Don't tell me you are winterizing your jetski already! Thats the main reason why I left Nashville, TN and moved to Orlando, FL, to escape the cold. You can ride jetskis all year around in Florida.:D
