    I am not positive, but i think the color code is the same between mfr's.
    green= low
    blue = med
    red = permanent.

        Up until 1999 Permatex was a subsidiary of LocTite corporation....When they split, they both continued basically the same product lines.....The Permatex 50ml tube p/n {51813} is the identical version of the LocTite 50ml tube p/n {51831} The part numbers are similar, so are the products.. If you choose this product make absolutely sure that you follow all of the instruction sheet information exactly or you may end up having to pull everything apart and reseal it.
        518 (51831) = Permatex 51813
        592 PST = Permatex 80632

          Why would loctite 592 PST covert to permatex 80632 and not permatex 59235?

            Re: Loctite Conversion to Permatex Products

            It's all the same....at least as far as our applications are concerned. for that matter, you can use the cheap teflon plumbing tape that you buy at any hardware store for a replacement in this application on a Sea-Doo. After all the PST (592) is a replacement for the teflon tape!!! Let's stop trying to get so **** over-technical that we don't even look at the intended application of the products we are searching for!!!

                  Why not just use the OE specified Loctite products? Loctite spends alot of time working with the design engineers to make the proper products for the job.

                  Permatex is a marketing company. You don't wan't to be marketed to do you?

                  Nothing is worse than tearing something apart & repairing it only to have the sealant let you down out on the water.

                      Re: Loctite Conversion to Permatex Products

                      I would have used Loctite but I couldn't find a store that carried it when I live, most stores where I live seem to carry Permatex products. I'm sure there is some little store here that has it but I didn't have the time to go throw the phone book calling stores. I know I could have ordered it online but I needed to get going on winterizing my seadoo because of the weather.

                        Re: Loctite Conversion to Permatex Products

                        You should be able to find Loctite in Industrial supply stores. Companies like McMaster Carr, Applied Industrial Technologies, etc. Loctite relaunched their Automotive Aftermarket line just over a year ago, you can probably find them in places like Autozone, O'Reilly's, etc. Same formulations as in the Industrial lineup, just a little different package.

                        Although the Loctite & Permatex product lines look very similar, they couldn't be more different. Loctite manufactures all their own product & controls the quality very closely. Permatex is buying offshore (Asia) products at a substantial savings. Who know's what you're buying & how it will react with your application.
