    Re: another defect?

what woudl cause the plastic adapter to break? how common is it for oil pumps to freeze? and why woudl they freeze? it ran great w/ my other style adapter (my frist sbt engine) and right when i turn to this newer style, problems occur. i hope SBT has an engine that woudl accept the older style adapter, because it looks like the nylon adapter is stronger than teh plastic adapter.

oh, and for instance SAY IT DID freeze, do they unlock after a while? like an engine? i dont see anyway for them to freeze up. it turns great and the way it should becasue i compared it to my old pump.

Your oil pump did not freeze up or it still would not turn.

My guess is the oil pump slot was bound up tight when it was installed for whatever reason.

I disagree that the old style drive is better than the newer style drive. That square drive tang is pretty small. I would imagine it could break off fairly easily too.

how do i make sure that my oil pump adapter/pump is alinged properly? i dont want this to happen again if indeed it was my fault. any techniques? i did attach the pump to the adapter and rotated the engien a little bit and notice that the pump did rotate as well.

I don't know as I have never had a problem doing it. I do pay close attention to such things though. I guess I just feel the way they go together.....

thats exactly what i did. i even made sure it was making contact and that it would turn when the pto flywheel was turned. i pulled the pump apart and noticed that it had indeed moved noting that the adapter was working properly.i do know it was running great for one gas tank. and i think after that, it broke.
