  • Troubleshooter Quiz

Rider is riding along on his 951 DI and the engine stops dead in the water.

    Clue #1

It is not an electrical problem. It is mechanical. The engine will not turn over by hand or using the starter motor.

    Clue #2

There is no sign of damage to the 2 pistons, bearings, rods and reeds. The counterbalancer is intact.

Who can guess what broke inside the motor?

        Re: Troubleshooter Quiz

        Darn!

        That was too quick.

Yes the lower rod pin/screw sheared off in the end of the counterbalancer, the air pump piston came down and the counerterbalancer slammed into the rod and bent it and stopped turning when the screw got caught between it and the case, or the air pump got water inside of it and caused the rod to bend, which shook the bolt that holds the rod end to the counterbalancer so bad it broke off or just sheared it off when it hydrolocked the air pump.

Now, for the hard part of the question.

Name the hull type that this 951 DI motor was in.
