    Unhappy Can't remove old impeller

    Hello all,

I can't seem to get the impeller to spin free of the drive shaft on my YAM WRIII GP.

I asked to be sent any tools I needed to remove my old impeller from Parker Yamaha when I ordered my parts. Looking at the impeller it seems to use some other tool on the and not the tool that came with the replacement Solas impeller. So what I did is probably not very conventional, but I'm tired of nothing working out for me. I grinded the old impeller down so I can use an adjustable wrench on it, but I still cannot break it free even with two people.

I'm letting it soak in lubricant at this point. I'm losing hope. I'm worried that I'm going to bend the shaft if I try to force it.

Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

I had the same problem on my FX140 so I followed the advice of another and added some heat to the impeller with a propane torch. After doing this it came loose with the help of someone else pulling on the wrench. Since you already have it ground down then I figure heat won't hurt. Heat the outside of the impeller around the threads just don't overheat the shaft too much. Afterwards make sure you clean the threads on the shaft and maybe see about adding an anti-seize lubricant before putting on your Solas. If someone else has a better idea then let us know.

    Thanks for the response guys.

I'll give it another shot before I take it to somewhere to have it done.

What is PB Blaster? Never heard of it.

I know that it does from the svc. manual. So that means that if I am on the front side of the impeller I would turn it clockwise, correct?

What would a pump seal kit consist of? I purchased the o-rings, oil seals, and nose cone when I bought the impeller.
    Thanks,

Also make sure you get the seal for the whole pump. If there is water entering the pump at the seal (where the two pieces go together) you would not get the full speed of the ski.

PB Blaster is a penetrating spray designed to loosen up stuck bolts.

You can see a picture of the can here http://www.clean4less.com/Product/Re...an-eqPB%201007This stuff is the best nut buster on the planet.
Any auto store should have it. We use this stuff exclusivley in work on rusted snow plows that sat all summer.
