Hey Everyone,
I am about to winterize my Seadoo and I have read just about every Winterization post around the forum, including searched ones. I simply wanted to recap on the process since it seems like everyone seems to leave stuff out...or say different things.
So here goes my list of things that I think need to be done. Please add your comments, correct my details, or whatever to be sure we are all winterizing these darn Seadoo's the way they are supposed to where the temperature drops way to low to even consider riding with a dry suit!:)
I have a 1996 GSX so I have been looking in specific to the older Seadoo's.
Here goes.
1.) Check Compression and Log each Cylinder for record to see if anything changes with time
2.) Add fuel stabilizer to gas (Shake up good) and run for a bit to be certain it gets totally into the engine lines and carbs, etc.
3.) Run Engine with fresh water hose hooked up for a few minutes to get all salt out of the system.
4.) Remove Air Filter and flame arrestor to get to each carb
5.) Spray Fogging Oil into each carb for 15 to 30 seconds each while running. Should smoke like hell! Keep it at a fast idle enough to not stall out.
**what happens if it stalls at this point? Should it, Should it not?
6.) Hook up a pump, or contraption to get some antifreeze into the cooling system if you hope too. This seems to be optional
7.) Pour some anti-freeze into exhaust if it didn’t spit out naturally from flush if you want too, but it should go in automatically I think.
8.) Add a teaspoon of oil and pour down each spark plug hole and bump over a few times
9.) Take tube off of the head and fill up with Anti-Freeze to be certain it gets into the head
10.) Spray Jet Pump with Oil to be sure it is lubed good, or change the oil completely.
11.) Spray rust inhibitor on wiring and starter??
12.) Grease all cables along with pto, pump, drive shaft holder
13.) Spray down complete engine with oil for protection
14.) Remove Battery and put on Tender/trickle type charge to maintain
15.) Put Cardboard on back nossle and under intake grate and tape up to prevent animals from creeping inside.
Some Questions:
1.) What type of Anti-Freeze should be used? It seems like a debate between the Green, and Pink Environmental safe stuff. So which is it? A specific to buy would be nice:)
2.) Does a tube or tubes need to be pinched in the process? Or Disconnected? if so, which ones?
Any specifics would be great if this list is wrong somewhere. I've NEVER done this before so keep in mind that I am hoping to learn the right way. These are the details I have collected from searching the forum for all the details posted on Winterizing more or less.
Appreciate the positive comments to make this a strong post.:emoticont
