What you spend in time, labor and gaskets you could probably puchase a couple of the correct pullers. Take a couple of hours, work a side job and pony up for the puller.

A couple of things you might try, call Randy and ask if he has a used one for sale, check with your local auto parts store and see if they rent a good one and lastly take your craft to a PWC or small engine shop, pay them for 1/2 hours time and you're done.

But remember when you need to use the puller on something else in a year or two you'll be saying "man, I should have just bought that puller, now it's 150.00". LOL

that is the same aftermarket puller you can buy about anywhere, not realy up to the task

my puller has NEVER failed to pop a wheel - 95% of them in the boat, using a 3/4 socket and ratchet. the other 5% i had to pull the motor coz the wheel was stubborn

The motor dd come out without pulling the pump... Hope I didn't break anything. The problem is that now I have the flywheel off (thank god) I can't get the motor back in. So I'm guessing I need to pull the pump?

Question: How? Do i dismantle the whole thing?:emoticonn

Disconnect the steering cable from the steering nozzle
Remove the quick trim link rod if equiped
Remove bilge siphon hose from extension housing
            Remove the 4 mounting bolts
Remove the assembly (have somebody push on the driveshaft)
A rubber mallet might help if it's tight.

Re: Having issues removing flywheel from hurricane.

Guys, This pump is not comming off. :( Looks like everything seems to be stuck on this boat.

I've tried using break free lub on it for days. And I've run a line (rope) through and around it so I can pull. Beat it with a hammer and tried wedging it with a bar.. no go.

You guys got any advice on how I can get this pump off the stern?

Re: Having issues removing flywheel from hurricane.

did you remove the 4 bolts that hold the pump together, or the 4 that hold the pump to the craft? If it is that tight, i would recommend leaving the 4 that hold the pump together in place, and remove the nuts that attach the pump to the craft on the inside by the stuffing box. Also, make sure that all the hoses are completely removed from the inside. There should be 1 big one for the cooling, and 2 smaller ones for the siphon. Once the nuts are out, take a rubber mallet and whack it in all directions to break the bead of silicone.

OK, So you are saying I need to take off the nuts on the inside and remove the entire pump assebly.

Question: It looks like there is some sealant there now. Is this noormal? Will I need to re-seal this area?

use the parts page that ph2 posted. remove four bolts part#9 steering cable and trim rod if you have it,etc. romove nozzle #10 and housing #18 . if its been in salt or has corrosion try a rubber mallot heat gun penetrating oil wedges etc to break it free. the counterbores are not real deep but if coroded act like loc-tite. like addicted said, side to side up and down is the trick, not pulling just straight back. next time you have to take it apart it will only take ten minutes. what a pisser though when it is stuck. and trying not to break anything. good luck.:emoticonr

Instead of penetrating oil use diesel, let it sit overnight smack with a mallet and it should be yours.
