  • Need professional opinion about oil type

    hi,

My 95XP, which was converted to premix, has now done 20 hours of breaking in / taking it easy. During the break in, i used the seadoo mineral oil mixed at a ratio of 32:1 with the fuel. The oil tank, which feeds the crankcase, also contains seadoo mineral oil. I would like to use another brand of oil which is cheaper for premixing with the fuel. I will keep the seadoo mineral oil for the crankcase as i have been told that the rotary valve surface requires seadoo oil.

So, which type of oil....I looked at AMS OIL and thought that thier INTERCEPTOR 2 stroke oil looked suitable (which has been recommended by others in previous posts). However this is synthetic oil and my 720 rotax engine requires mineral oil??? I'm confused about this.

So yeah, i need a professional opinion on this one. If not AMS OIL, then what type of oil should i use? I was originally reluctant to use anything but the seadoo oil, but it is very expensive for premixing. Any help would be great, thanks.

Amsoil is fine. The sticker that says mineral oil just means you do not have to use synthetic. It will actually be better if synthetic is used.

I have the 800 Seadoo engine, the rotary valve shaft bath and rotary valve or two seperate things, I thought the rotary valve shaft bath has the pipes from the oil tank, and the rotary valve itself (big 3/4 metal circle) gets oiled from the fuel going thru the carbs?

I have often wondered why I pay AU$80 for 4 liters of seadoo oil....
