  • SBT Incorrect Starter for 1998 GTX-RFI

I recently ordered a SBT Starter (Part Number 39-107) which is suppose to fit the 787 / RFI engine. The starter that I received has a 9 pin gear and the original starter has a 8 pin gear. I was hoping to install the starter tomorrow and go riding this weekend but those plans have been screwed up by this mix up. I do not want to reuse the existing clutch assembly from the old starter.

I got in to late to call SBT and inquire about this issue to see how we can get it rectified before the 4th. I have sent them a E-Mail and I suspect that they will reply by Monday.

I hoping that maybe someone from SBT will see this tonight and maybe reship the order on Saturday for Monday delivery :emoticont

Some OEM 787 starters were 8 tooth, and some were 9 tooth. The 8 tooth simply changed the cranking speed a bit. Our starters are the original 9 tooth count, and it is the correct starter for your engine, and does work.
