  • FW/C Oil in 4 stroke Yamaha VX110

Great article on changing oil on VX110. You state that either Yamaha oil or Valvoline 10-40 but shouldnt the oil be specified as FW/C rated which the valvoline is not. The FW/C has higher marine use ratings, and would any other oil void warranty?

No the warranty is not void by using other oils. No special grade is needed whatsoever. Note just because we chose and use Valvoline doesn't mean others can't be used as well or are better.

Whats the proper way to check the oil in a Yamaha VX110? I check it after idleing and it's just below the full level. After running it for the day and putting it on the trailer, the oil shows two inches above the full level. When I check it cold, it's 1 inch below the full mark. Anybody know????
