  • 1994 Gtx Engine Upgrade To 719 From 1995 Xp

Hi, I have a 1994 gtx with a 650 and I also have a 1995 xp with a 720 engine. I would like to do a engine swap so I can use the 720 engine and its impeller with rew limiter from the 1995 XP on the 1994 GTX, and the 650 and its impeller with rew limiter from the 1994 gtx on the 1995 XP. I also plan to use the stator from the 650 on the 720, and stator from the 720 on the 650 because of the 4 and 3 wires diference to be able to match the electronics on the seadoos with out changing anything else. My question is, Am I in the right direction? is there anything else I should know like timing change or anything else? I want the 1994 GTX to go as fast as it can with what I have.
I have a seadoo engine aligment kit with engine mount shims and a SEADOO CLYMER manual. Any Ideas are fully apreciated. :emoticoni

No timing changes will be necessary, just align the mark on each stator with the mark on each engine case.

Hi, would the 1994 650 exhaust be power robing on the 720 engine or should I use the matching 720 exhaust from the XP seadoo?:emoticonn
      Thanks.

Power robbing, no, but if you have the 717 exhaust system, I'd use it.

Hi, I was thinking of doing a MPEM swap to maintain appropiate rew limiter for the new engines but the 1995XP's MPEM has more wires than the 1994GTX's MPEM. Do you think that a 1994 XP MPEM part number 278-00-071 will match the rev limiting on the 85HP 720XP engine? the 1994XP MPEM has the same wires, runs its 650X to 80HP and matches the 1994 GTX MPEM wires, or should I go with a affordable MPEM programer or aftermarket rev limiter? :emoticonn
          Thanks.

            I am totally confused here.
I thought when you swapped engine, you swapped MPEM's too?

The extra wires are for running things on the 95 that the 94 did not have. If I understand this question, which I doubt, use the 1994 mpem win the boat you put the 1994 engine into, same with the 720 engine/mpem, or just go with and aftermarket rev limiter and make your life easier.

I am sorry for the confusion, what I wanted to know is what are the factory RPM set points on the following MPEM's. 1994XP rev limiter with 650x engine part number 278-000-071 , 1994GTX rew limiter with 649 engine and 1995XP rev limiter with 719 engine.:emoticonb
              Thanks.

If I remember right, about 6800 plus or minus 50 for all 657 MPEM's and 7000 for all 718 MPEM's.
