  • 1999 GTX sea doo shutting down

I'm looking at buying a 1999 GTX from a friend for $600. This sea doo will run for about 30 min. then just shut down. The owner is not a mechanic and has been told a couple of things. He previously loaned it to someone and they got the ski rope sucked up in the impeller, they had it checked out and was told the impeller was o.k. another was the main bearing was going out. I'm wondering if a temp. censer may be bad or something simple. If not what does a new motor cost?

    Thanks in advance, Randy

Rule one check compression(around 140 psi is good) you can also shop by make and model on SBT's store for your motor price 99% of the time it's fuel related when you have inconsistent or poor performing engine issues, there is also a good article in the tech f.a.q.'s section on the second page on what to look for.I can't tell you how many times a year I have heard or read about problems related to lending a ski out to a friend you will usually only get half the story so beware.
