  • 951 Engine in 98 GTX Baffling :(

I am baffled by the design of this motor. It is near impossible to do some of the stuff required. Take for example this instruction in the SBT engine build

    "Step 2
    Carburetor Removal
Most of the carburetor removal has been
shown without the exhaust in place for
better clarification. While it is possible to
remove the exhaust first, it is more difficult.

It is impossible to get a good view and see some of the bolts on the carbs and other hoses without removing the exhaust. But I can't get to the exhaust bolts because of the carbs. This is a total catch 22.
Is there any magic to this engine? I can't even make the same visual as the engine guide shows, because they don't look the same.

Why, why, why didn't I just buy two 96 GTX's. Ugh, I hate my 98 GTX ltd.

There are 4 bolts with allen heads on them holding the carbs onto the engine. You need an allen socket about 3 inches long to remove those bolts. It is really very easy to remove the carbs.
