  • Yamaha 1100 "bobbles" a bit at 1/4 throttle...carb adjustment???

Hello all, I recently installed an SBT motor and rebuilt my carbs on my Yamaha 1100 and I hear a "bobbling" or "blurbling" type sound at about 1/4 throttle from the exhaust, I am not sure if it's a lean mis-fire, but have concerns.

I guess it could just be the exhaust hitting the water too???

I was wondering if low speed carb adjustment could cure the problem (if there is one)?

    Thanks,

    Mark

I thought I was being overly concerned since I did the work, what am I hearing?

Nothing in particular - you have a triple cylinder 2 stoke engine - that's just how it sounds.

That's good to know! I have also noticed a bit of a stumble at times when taking off at full throttle and thought they were related. Any ideas?

          Thanks again,

Don't expect it to be perfectly smooth just grabbing the throttle from idle without a lot of modification and tuning. You may be able to fine tune carbs over a few hours a bit better, but on a stock ski that's still very normal.

Thanks for the info, I feel relieved to hear that! I guess I was being overly critical after having done such a big repair (replaced motor etc.) This isn't going to be my last ski and I can't see spending a lot of money on mods.

Any idea what the first year/model that offered a four stroke engine?

              Thanks for the help,

2002+ offered some models from Sea-Doo, Yamaha and Kawasaki not too far behind. Ask about them on www.pwctoday.com for opinions.
