  • Any good old ski mechanics recognize this problem?

Ok here's the deal I have an old 550, the hull and engine and ignition are all from different years. I use to race back around in 89 -91 and got to be pretty good at mechanically fixing these things but I seemed to have forgot some. So, What the ski "SEEMS" to be doing is intermittenly firing, one minute it has good power and seems to run good until you try to get going after being on plane then it just falls on its face and sputters, it also back fires. It really feels like it fires on one cylinder and then two. It feels and sounds like ignition to me, I just rebuilt the carb and that did'nt help at all! Does anyone know of the specs and procedure to meter ignition parts? I have allready tried to swap out stator and ignition box and it seems like the box I swapped it with is bad too. Or am I way off on this prob! I rebuilt this whole motor and it did run **** good before.

check your stop switch relay. It's in the elec. box. Little round piece.
