11 - I don't see where she said GP? But I wouldn't know either one.

My .02, for what its worth, if looking for long-term reliability overall take the Yamaha over the SeaDoo.

      Not that true anymore.
760s and non PV 1200s (97 to 99) were bulletproof, newer powervalve engines were not that much better than the 951 Seadoo.
Fact is that I don't hear of any 2002 and later 951 blowing while GPRs are still grenading valves...

Also besides the GP, what hull got the 760 AND the 800?
        The XL?
        Sounds like it, no?
But no, the XL 760 was a revamped Venture, the XL 800 was an XLL hull.
So when someone asks about the differences between a 760 and a 800, it can be nothing but a GP.
        Or what else?
        Please enlighten us.

That is disregarding Suzan's ignorance, as usual, she is WRONG.
All the 760s had decent gauges (speedo, hours, tach, warnings, oil and gas level).
The only "bare" ones were the 700 Raider, Venture and XL.

That was the word I was looking for, "bulletproof"
The guy who worked on my jetski called the 760 bulletproof and thats what I want. I have been trying to research which is better for me, and I had been pushed in the direction of a 760, but some are saying as long as there is no powervalve the earlier 1200s are good too. I am not a speed freak, but I do want to keep up. My other half is supposed to get a 1200 next week and he is the speed freak. I have also read the 97 hulls have cracking issues, how true is this? I kind of get attached to my things, the seadoo was an uneducated purchase, so I am trying to make better decisions now. I appreciate all of your responses . =)

the only problem with a 951 seadoo is the last guy to work on it . there hands down one of the best motors built , yes they had a problem with water injestion BUT doo told the dealers how to fix it ,its not there foult that 90% of the people workin on them are morons lol , to this day i still see dealer serviced skis with sealer on the pipe gasket ect , its unreal :-(
the older slow yamahas were very good runners and very bulletproof 500 650 760 800 all the 3 cyl motors are rattle traps and need to be checked a lot for loose bolts , keep up on them your ok . just remember all skis will break i have plenty of very well takin care of clean BLOWN yamahas in the shop now , seadoo holds about 60% of the market so you will see more being worked on . there about 10 to 1 of anyone else out there . seadoo is the cheepest to fix when you need parts and service :) yamaha is one of the most expencive to buy anything for .

Valerie Its true the '97 had some hull cracking problems on the 1200. Did not here of any on the 760 but it is the same hull. Maybe its was not a problem 760 due to the lower speeds and lighter engine (tech?). You might not be a speed freak but if you want to "keep up" get a 1200. The '97-
'99 1200 is bullet proof as well

It was the first 5086 hulls, you can check for the factory bracing in the ski nad look at the hull number under the seat on the latch.

I got one, but DUDE, one of the BEST motor built?
Took 5 years to be kindof reliable, best PWC plants are the Kawasakis and non PV Yamahas.

Tech Support. Suzan is ignorant and usually gives people false informations like she just did.
That is not bashing to say that.

Then correct her civily, not like a snotty prick.

The 951 block itself, IS very reliable. It's the external parts they kepr having to tweak, to not blow the engine.

I'm new to PWC's but I can tell you this- I have a 2000 GP 760 and it gives a bouncy ride. I understnd though, that with sponson adjustments (which helped some), and a different ride plate will make all the difference in the world.
Otherwise, so far I like it.
I dont need to go 60-70 mph!!!
