Display on '98 GP 1200

I have just purchased a fixer upper. This is my first Yamaha ski. It is not running. I just reset the security code on the display. Was able to see it with no problem.

My question is, when you insert the lanyard, the engine will crank, but the display shows nothing. Surely, this is not normal, is it?

what is the code. i just got my ski and the display keeps beeping and asking for a code. i've been looking all over the internet for codes for these skis and can't find them. are local dealer has a bunch of idiots working for them that don't know jack about these skis.

The code can be reset by simply unplugging the blue conector between the display and the fuse/relay block. ou can then add any 4 digit code consisting af A, B, or C.

i just learn on mine, that the ski has to crank for a few seconds before the guages will display anything.
