Re: New engine, no power to guages..HELP!

Ken, sorry I didn't call.. This weekend ended up being quite hectic! I will call ya tomorrow though.

Now.. White on the tip of the plug means LEAN!! When you rebuilt the carbs, did you test the pop-off? My guess is that you are having an issue there...

The HIGH speed adjusters should be at ZERO turns, the lows at 1-1/4 turns out.

Re: New engine, no power to guages..HELP!

I checked spark this weekend and both sides have even spark. I will check compression this after noon when i get home. The plug was wet, and looked as though it just wasn't getting spark. I tried a new set of plugs, just to make sure it wasn't a bad plug and still no fire on that cylinder. So would that still be lean? I have the airbox pulled and going to try to get to the screws to check today. I pulled thebox friday and couldn't get to it, though i was tryin to manage by myself. I figured out the beep problem and have it figured out. so no worried there. My only problem is adjusting the carbs. Also, on pop off pressure, i dont have aguage so i used the same springs back in the carbs....Do i need to break it down and change?

Did you use SBT rebuild kits? if so, I have noticed that there is a slight variation on the diaphram nipples that can effect PO pressure. You should ALWAYS check pop off... Buy a gauge lol...

If you have spark, fuel and compression, the cyl should fire... If it doesn't fire, then it can't be lean.. But, white means lean (too hot), not enough fuel etc.

Wait a minute.. Was it white liked baked on white, or white, drippy (you can wipe if off white). If it's drippy, then you have water somewhere..

The water could have been from the exhaust leak.. Hopefully it's not alot, and there is no rust damage to the crank (and if there is.. You have and SBT motor, so it's got a warranty!)..

Pop-off gauge.. easy. Watercraft Magic in Glendora, CA.. (626) 914-9509 Talk to Bill O'Neal.. He's also the guy you want to order the carb F/A and re-jet kit from to get rid of that nasty airbox!

well, right now, im not looking to do any upgrades until i get it running right.

So as for now, adjust the crab to 1 1/4 out and see hjow it runs?

                  Yup... lows to 1-1/4 out..

Highs, closed... If it still runs like poop.. get a pop-off gauge. Or take it to a dealer that does.

Dan, i checked the diagrams on the mikuni site and it seems like the lows are on top because the idle adj. screw is located by the low adj. but this doesn't correspond to what I have been told. This seems odd but it is what the site says.

Ken.. I'll go look at my carbs in the morning.. But you may be right (I have 17 ski's in my driveway.. I can't remember all the carbs lol)..

The easy way to tell between the two is this (if you put it back together right).. The low speed adjuster will have a "T" handle, while the High speed will not.

Your low speed circuit adjuster is down by the base of the carbs, they should be open about 1 1/2 turns out. Tom SBT tech.

OK.... Carbs back on, runs a good idle out of water. Im working on my *LAST* problem...hopefully. My throttle is sticking and can't seem to work it out. #The carbs themself are fine. I can play with the linkage and they spring back when the cable is off. The cable just seems to stick and once at wide open, I have to put the throttle back to closed myself. I have lubed it up and it is still sticking. Any suggestions? but now i check the plugs, SAME PROBLEM....I have fire on both plugs in both coils but once in the motor, no fire on front cylinder. This is confusing me since it runs good!? I can pull the plugs out after running it, front plug is cool and white. Rear is brown and warm. I adjusted the carbs as directed and still not right. It is glowpluggin or free revving though. any connections to the one cylinder? have to choke it to kill it. Will not shut off with key or button.

                            HELP!!!!!!!!!

Some place there is still an air leak, Thats why it wants to run away it could be a issue with the carb too lean, front crank seal leaking air or a base gasket sucking air.

I am going to pull the carbs once again today and check everything over AGAIN! How do i tell if it is a base gasket or crank seal? I have right at 150psi compression on both cylinder and spark ion both plugs, both wires. mHave tried new plugs and still have problem. I am leaning towards fuel at his point because at one point, it picked up with some WD40 through the front carb throat. I can pull the front plug wire while running and even the front plu7g out and it still runs with no change.
