New engine, no power to guages..HELP!

I recently got a new engine and ut it all in the 2000 XP. when we put it in, the timing was off and backfired a few times. we know the timeing problem now but when we put the key on, no beeps, no guage movement, no power NO NOTHING!. need help. battery is good and i have power to main box. I need some suggestions with this!

Well, we found the problem. One fuse was blown. We jus didnt know they were right there! and as for the timing problem, MAKE SURE THE CUP IS ALLIGNED ON THE FLYWHEEL! but all is well. All needed now is an idle adjustment and break in? anyone know how long break in period on the SBT engine is?

Your first tank should be fine, vary speed on the ski and dont run wide open for any extended time untill you use up the 1st tank.

OK. well in south alabama, its easy to go out on the river in march so as soon as the wind dies down, ill see how it goes. All seems well for the minute i ran it on the hose so I just need to set the idle and adjust everything. Also, should i run premium fuel or just regular unleaded?

Its always good to run higher octane, but thats up to you.

I used fuel stabilizer in this tank as it has sat for about 2 mongth. I drained what was in the lines when i pulled the carbs. No bad smell but should i worry with dumping the tank as I used stabilizer and treatment, or just see how it runs?

Two month old fuel is fine. Use it. If it sat for 6 months I would say get rid of it.

ok...so I am trying to get the final assy done as in the small engine accessories......any suggestions? I cannot get the bottom to line up and the prots on the carbs. I know it has to slide on the pin down bottom but i can't seem to get it to line up right......any suggestions to an easy way to get it go on?

I think he is trying to install the carbs on the intake? The little pin that lines the carb on the intake manifold is that it, if so dont force any thing take your time and work slowly on it.

Ahhh okay.. A few posts up all he said it needed was an idle adjustment.. I assumed that meant the carbs were already installed.

Do you have the top plate attached to the carbs? It makes installing them as a pair a lot easier. Just run the 4 carb bolts down and match them to the intake area, thread in a few turns, and the carbs should then slide right down the bolts onto the intakes (you did install new gaskets, right?).

Are you re-installing the stock airbox as well?

sorry about that, I thought i added i was putting the breather on. I have the carbs on,a nd it is running fine. I just have to put the STOCK airbox on and then the breather atatchments. I know the bottom of the airbox has to line up on the pin by the starter but i can't seem to line it up correctly to the pin and the carbs.

ok.....so i found the problem....the mount is on backwards. I thought i had already checked that because we checked on a diagram before but i guess it was wrong. Now the question is...Do i pull it off and flip it or do something else to the breather?

Pull it off and install it the correct way.

We flipped the mount, installed the airbox and breather attatchments and all looks good. I ran it for a minute on the hose just to crank it and al sounds good. I am taking it to the river today to break it in to see how she runs.....I'll let you know how it goes... THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP TECH SUPPORT!
