  • Checking cooling system / overheating

Got my '92 WaveRunner LX running with it's swapped in 61X 'raider' 701 cc engine - took it out and it overheated within a few minutes and I believe the over temp sensor kicked in and limited revs to ~3200 rpm on my tiny tach.

My question - how does the cooling system function on these? Is it feeding pressurized coolant from the impeller into the engine to cool it? Could I have swapped inlet and outlet hoses? Is there a water pump in the engine?

Any help in getting this solved would be greatly appreciated!

It relies on pressure fromt he impeller, yes. www.hlsm.com has the microfiche for the hose routings.

Thanks for the really quick reply!

Does "all" the cooling water exit out the exhaust so there is only a "feed" hose coming from the pump, and then the water is routed through the engine, through the exhaust 'jacketing' and then out the exhaust pipe in the rear of the ski?

No, there is also a bypass line - check the microfiche.
