To start off I have a 1998 tigershark 640l. The block was cracked so I purchased a used 640 motor off of ebay. When I went to install it I noticed that the cracked motor has a the big round coupler, and the new motor has the coupler that requires the rubber dampner piece. I know they thread off of the crankshaft, but the old motors crank is larger than the new motors. What are my options?

That motor has 3 different coupler configurations also as you found out there are 2 different pto thread sizes 18mm and 24mm you may have to shop around to find the right configuration to work for you.SBT Tech Support is here to help with your problems.
