  • 2002 GTX problem

Had a problem with my 2002 gtx last weekend. The engine would turn over but not start and service engine message appeared. It would finally start after a few tries. I just had a tune up done this year with new plugs put in. I am wondering if the engine could have been over heating as I had never taken it on a trip this long before. Also, I have never been able to locate a dip stick to check the oil level. I have been filling the oil reservoir by eye up to almost full. Any ideas or suggestions?? Thanks for any help!

Is your battery fully charged? What was done in the tune up? The oil level is fine, there is no dipstick, just your eyes.

Add Carb and Choke Cleaner and a cup of 2 cycle oil. I find this will often correct the problem.

If you have a shaft bearing that is not roller bearings. Swith over to the rolerbearings and get rid of the carbon sleve.

The driveshaft bearing has nothing to do with his problem..
