  • Rave Valve ?

My sons 98 xp 800 rave valve is leaking oil. I pulled it apart the gasket looked good no rips and the same with the bellows. I replaced the o-ring even though that looked good as well. My question is the guilitine was covered in a tar like substence (oil) Is it normal? I thought it would be more like carbon dried up on the rave valve? Also could the spring that goes around the bellows(top) could it get strecthed out?

    Re: Rave Valve ?

Normally it's a like a carbon deposit, with a hint of wetness. Since your rave was malfunctioning, thats why it was all gooey. Clean the rave paddle before re-installation.

Also, yes, the springs can get worn out.

Yes I'm running synthetic oil. I did change brands recently to quick silver for pwc's. it said it was formulated for seadoos.
