1993 polaris sl650 wont turn over

I have cracked open the electrical box that sits over the battery and it had an watery oily substance in it. I got rid of it and cleaned the terminals on the silonoid i jumped the battery and starter wires it turned over perfectly. The silonoid doesnt click or anything can it be one of the kill switches or what.

No it sounds like the solenoid is the problem.

thanks it was the breaker it had corroded to the point it ate the plates inside i bought a new one and it turned over perfectly
