  • 2004 1200 XLT, Engine Problems

I am on my 3rd engine, less than 65 hours on watercraft. My first engine, factory, 3rd cylinder went out. 2nd engine, sbt engine, the first cylinder went out, looked like no oil was getting to it.
    Three questions:
When you install a new engine do you need to bleed the oil pump in case air bubbles get in the lines, if so How??

How can you test your oil pump to make sure it is working?

The second engine didn't get out of the break-in procedures, I was on my second tank when the first cylinder crapped out

I am having my 3rd engine sent to me now, don't want to have to tear down and put a new in again!!

    Thanks,

    Aaron

Here's what you need to do.

    1. Get rid of that piece of sh## oil injection system and go with premix. Yamaha oil injection has proven unreliable over and over and over.

    2. Clean and/or rebuild carbs and check pop off pressure.

    3. Make sure you are not sucking air. When you re-install engine, spray all your paper intake/carb gaskets with permatex hi tack gasket sealant.
    Just tryin' to help out.
