2001 yamaha xl1200 gas in oil resevoir

My daughter accidently filled the oill reservior with gas and than rode it for twenty minutes. Engine stalled and wont restart...any help where to start????

Oh no, that's not good.

When you say it's not starting, is it turning over, or just doing nothing?

So instead of having gas mixed with oil, you only had gas going to engine. What probably happened is the pistons and cylinders got extremely hot with no lubrication and something seized and that's why the engine stopped and will not start. You may have one or more pistons that welded themselves to the cylinder wall.

If you are really lucky, the top end will have to come off, new piston rings installed, cylinders cleaned up, new gaskets. But it's most likely you will need a complete cylinder exchange kit from SBT, a whole new top end.
