My dash gauges won't let it crank over Can I over ride it??

Hello ,, I have a 97 Gp 1200 and I went to start it up and it did nothing checked connections at the battery and fuse and everything else put in the code on the dash and it locked so I put it in again and it said START but still wouldn't crank so I checked the soleniod with a test light and checked the brown solenoid wire while pushing the start button nothing so I jumped the brown Solenoid wire to hot the ski started right up and the dash worked fine,, so I spent the last 2 days tracing wires with a test light Then I decided to pull the dash out of my 98 xl and hook it up in the Gp and it started right up So My main Question is is there any way to override the dash or should I just try to find A new one Because this on does work it just wont let me start the ski Thanks For any Help
