  • WEIRD spark plug scenerio !?!?!?!?! Help!!!!

    I recently picked up a couple Honda's, a 2005 r12x
and a 2007 f12x. They both started pretty easily when I first bought
them. They progressively were harder and harder to start, so I got new
plugs. They started up perfectly with new plugs, but then progressively
started to get harder and harder to start, like the plugs were fouling
out. By accident, I found out that if I raised the ignition coils up
about 1 inch, the cylinders will fire off perfectly and smoothly. I've
even got to the point now that I remove the hold down screw, pull up the
coil, barely screw in the hold down screw, and then let the coil rest
about 1 inch above being flush and the ski runs perfect. What's even
more odd, after warming the engine up, I can drop the coils back down
and the ski runs fine. Any idea what's up with this kind of weirdness
    ???? I'm truly baffled !

    thanks,

Make sure there is no corrosion on the coils Then I would try and add some dielectric grease to the bottom of the coils where they come in to contact with he plugs it almost sounds like your coils are breaking down internally . I recently had a similar problem on a 2008 yamaha vx110 i had 2 replace 3 of my coils and this solved my problem . I would also check all ground connections between the battery and engine block. Check all grounds, clean all areas that your ground wires attach to.

still sounds like bad connections, ground or stick coil or connection to the stick coil. try one of the other coils.

Both are a common problem with bad ground wires on the block. Also there are mount inside the magneto housing what is called signal generator that counts flywheel signals and sent that information to each of your ECU for firing order. If the signal get weak then weak spark and fouling the plugs. Also the common problem with ECU 40 pin connection on the ECU getting wet. Honda's also like better high grade of fuel then the cheap stuff. Each Honda is differnet, but if it goes bad the engine will not start. Good Luck. Frank JETSKIDOC LLC
