    I've been a fan of SBT for several years and have bought many new and rebuilt items with no problems. But my last purchase was very disappointing. I purchased a stater for my 98 seadoo gts. I installed the stater and it worked great for a few days...shortly after that, the starter failed. Not only did it fail, but It caused a small fire in the engine compartment. When I tried to find the cause, I noticed sparks coming from the starter when I hit the start button. I removed the starter and took it apart. I found the cause of the sparking and the reason for the failure....The plastic housing that surrounds the positive terminal lead (its there so the positive terminal doesnt make contact with the starter outer casing) was in peices. Upon inspection, the plastic housing was brittle and obviously old. I also noticed corrosion inside the starter that wouldnt have happened in the short time it was installed in the ski.
