  • Yamaha FX140 (2002) Filling gas tank & oil level reading

Wow, what a great forum. I just bought a 2002 Yamaha FX140 and the information here has been very helpful to me. I have a couple of questions:

    1. When I am putting gas into the tank once the tank is half full it over flows easily and I have to slowly (pumping gas lever) to fill the tank. It takes 10 minutes? is this normal? Is there something else I need to do when fueling?

    2. When measuring oil level do you screw the oil cap tight before removing and taking level reading or or just have the cap resting on the threads?

Thanks again for the valueable help from this forum.

Screw the cap down to get the oil reading. You will have to pump the fuel in slowly otherwise it will come back up, also check the fuel vent on the tank, our test ski does the same thing.
