  • 1992 XP Oil in intake

Ive Got a 1992 XP Twin Carb that has sat for 5 years I knew that I would have to rebuild the carbs for sure so i take off the carbs and find the intake full of oil. Whats going on? The machine ran fine 5 years ago and was winterized. What caused this and is there a fix? Please Help!!

Typical actually. Inner crank seals are most likely leaking. Happens when the upper part of the seal starts to dry out and the crack spreads.

    2 things will happen here:
    1) Your inner crank seals are now shot, and you need a new crank
    2) She will run fine for years

The way to find out is to get all the oil out (dirty job) and get her started up. She is going to smoke like a dickens BTW. Let her sit for a few days and see if it fills up again. If it does, chances are really good the seals are beyond hope. Unfortunately these cranks are not serviceable, so you can't just replace the seals.... New crank.
