I would bet if you look at a new PTO you would see the splines are in fact damaged. They tend to get rounded on the edges and shorter. It's hard to tell unless you know what you are looking at, perhaps I can posts some good and bad example pictures in the morning.

You have some damage somewhere that you are overlooking, you can't have those symtoms and everything be 'good'.

I agree, I do have some damage somewhere. The only thing I can't positively identify yet is the bearings in the pump it's self. I don't have the impeller removal tool. I am going to replace almost everything except the drive shaft, I might as well replace the PTO as well. One more question about choosing an impeller, I have decided on the Solas Concord. I just don't know what pitch to get. The factory is 17/25, should I get the same for the new one? I would like a little more low end but don't want to sacrafice top end either.

I also just went out to check and I didn't have the rubber bumper (spacer) on the end of the drive shaft at the impeller. Could this couse the problem.

      Thanks

if your cavatating really bad it will shake also , since you have the drive shaft out find a glass table and roll it , you should get a nice even roll if the shaft is strait , if its bent you will 100% know . if you would like to take pix of the ends of the shaft { clean it off } and email them to SBT or me someone can tell you if the splines are worn ,

Well I took my pump over to Jet Trendz, he took my pump apart for me. He said the impeller was a bit worn and I needed a new wear ring which I already new. The pump shaft had a lot of push pull play, more than normal he said, he also found that I had a pinched thrust bearing and my impeller shaft had a few scoring marks on the impeller end. He said the culmination of these few problems might be causing the one big problem and that I should also check the motor mounts (same a mentioned above). Another possibility might be that I need to have my engine alligned. So SBT I might be coming to you guys for this tool. Did you ever get any pictures of good and bad PTO splines? I slid the drive shaft back in to check for any play or movement, it went in smooth and had absolutely no play.

Sorry, I've been absolutely swamped so far today but I'll get them as soon as I can.

Your problem is that if you remove your rideplate and scoop grate, I bet you can pull the plastic ride shoe out of the hull (or it may just fall out). It should be fully sealed and stuck to the hull with Ultra Black silicone sealant.

Thanks Bill, that is something I will chech as well. I personally have only removed the scoop grate but that was after the initial problem happened. Another question, after pretty much removing the the entire drive and propulsion section, at what point will it be positivily necessary to align the engine?

I got an alignment tool to check the alignment, it was off a bit, enough that I could feel it bind a tad. Could this be causing my problem? When realigning the drive train, how close does it need to be? Right now I have it where you can barely hear a tink as the shaft enters the PTO. Is this good enough or does it have to be absolutely perfect?

if it goes in just pushing easily that's fine. If it catches and you have to move it, shim a touch more. No that wouldn't cause a vibration.

Mis-Alignment causes viberations, but noting like when the ride shoe is sucking air causing cavatation, which causes alot of viberations.

Well, thanks for everyone's help on this. Here is every thing I found wrong:

Missing bumper on drive shaft impeller end.
                        engine slightly miss alligned
                        Missing Neoprene pump seal.
Excissive wear on on wear ring.
                        pinched thrust bearing in pump
excessive back and forth movement of pump shaft.

Not sure which of these caused the problem but it has to be one of these.
