  • Valve hitting piston on F12

My 2004 F12 (non-turbo) lost a cylinder when one of the exhaust valves hit the piston. I am not sure if the cause was a bad valve retaining clip or the springs were getting weak and allowed the valves to float at high RPM's.

There were only about 250 hours on the engine and it had never been taken apart.

    Anyone hear of simular problems?

Too much carbon on the valve stem or small amount of rust can make the valve stick in the guide and the piston contacts it. We see more of this on yamaha skis then any other brand.
