  • engine removal sl700 questions.

So I had a rod break and eat up the crank in my sl700. Im pulling the whole motor to replace the crank/rods/etc. I almost have the engine out of the ski, however the stator wires are still connected to the cdi/stator. I have removed the stator cover to try and unhook the wires. It looks like the flywheel has to come off as well. How do I remove the flywheel? also, is this even worth the time and effort? the ski is super clean, but I have a feeling that parts are going to add up quick.

    thanks in advance...

Its worth fixing, the stater wires disconnect from in the electrical box not at the stater. You need a flywheel removal tool to pull the flywheel. Call SBT sales we sell the tool.

The needle on the gas gauge of my 1997 SLT700 floats up slightly when I have disconnected the battery. As soon as I connect the battery it peg to zero. I am guessing the sending unit in the tank. To remove it do I have to move the tank forward enough to slip it out?
