  • Kawasaki 1998 zxi 100 new owner questions

I just purchased a 1998 Kawasaki 1100 zxi, from a neighbor who has not used the ski in over a year. The ski was running before put away. The previous owner winterized, covered and left in his back yard for 1 year. Cleaned fuel out, Ran compression test and all cylinders are good and equal. The magnetic key and the dead man cord are lost. Do I need the magnetic key to run the ski? . The ski will turn over but will not start.
In addition, under the seat on the starboard side of the ski, there looks to be a sensor (small block- 1/2 size of match box with a rod through it) two wires leading from it, the sensor was glued to the side of the inner wall of the hull and has come off and hanging from the wiring harness. How was that glued to the side wall and what sensor is it?
What is the best service manual for this ski?

yes the magnetic key has to be used to turn the ski to its on position and it has to be the correct key too. Take the ski to the local kawasaki dealer and have them figure out what key needs to be ordered for you.
