  • 97 XP misfire

My 97 Xp is misfiring in only the rear cylinder. It only misfires at low rpm but runs great at high rpm. Also, it has trouble starting up unless you hold open the throttle. I've done all the ohm tests in the book for the ignition coil and trigger coil. Spark plugs are not the issue. The reason I say it's misfiring is because I used an inductive pickup timing light and it intermittently sparks at idle and low to mid rpm and clears up and sparks every time at high rpm. I did just rebuild the engine because of corrosion and wear and so i have extra oil in the gas. I bought it non-running so I don't know how it ran before. Any suggestions would be great!!

Could be the plug wire, remove the cap and cut back 1/4 inch then screw the plug boot back on.
