  • 1997 Speedster 717 Compression difference.

I just bought a 1997 speedster with twin 717 engines. The right one has 125 psi compression in both cylinders and the left engine has 125 in one and 105 psi in the other. It has Miller performance heads on both engines. Do I need to do a top end on the left engine? It seems to shake alot more than the right but is hard to keep running and not right. I hate to pull an engine if it is something I can fix with it in the boat. I read in other threads that the compression is too far apart but why the shaking if it it only rings.

105 is pretty low it will need to be freshened up, if the carbs have not been gone through in a while it would be a good idea to clean or rebuild them while doing the top end.
