  • Carbs rebuilt now won't idle

I just rebuilt the carbs on my 96 SL900 to try and fix the hard starting issue.

Everything seemed to go very well, but after getting them back on I can't get it to idle. Accelerator pump is pumping file with throttle squeeze, and I put the idle mixture screws back to the same setting before disassembly.

Carbs were disassembled, soaked, washed, rinsed, and blown clean.

    I used Winderosa carb kits.

    Here are some symptoms.

Need to pump throttle for it to start.
Runs great after it comes off idle.
If I pump the gas I can get it to stay running and come off idle.
I can see flames in the carbs when I try to get it to idle or come off idle.

Is this an adjustment issue, or did I screw something up during the rebuild?

    Thanks, Cory

Sounds like pop off is wrong, Check the pop-off pressure set it to 20-24 psi.

      I'll try that, thanks.

Pop off is 22 psi on all three carbs, low speed needle is 5/8 turn out, new fuel lines, new pulse lines, and tried running out of fresh can of fuel.

Only idles on 1 carb, but as soon as the rpms come up runs on all 3.

I've had the carbs apart multiple times with no luck on fixing this issue.

If you squirt fuel into the other 2 cylinders will it run at idle?
