  • Slt780 lean issues

    Hey everyone,

I'm having an issue with a 1996 slt 7 that is super lean on the low end. I rebuilt this jet ski for someone after a cylinder burned down, but I, struggling to fix this issue. I've adjusted the carbs to their factory set points and much richer, to no avail. The jet ski runs great at startup and full speed but when I let off and idle it bogs and dies right off the line unless I open the choke fully. Any ideas?

Did you rebuild the carbs on the ski?

I broke them down and pulled the jets, cleaned as best I could with carb cleaner, made sure the jet orifices were clear. But no, I didn't fully tear them down.

Go through them and clean the internal fuel filters behind the fuel rail

Okay, will do. Thanks for the help. If this doesn't help, any ideas on what else could be causing such an issue?

            It sounds fuel related.

Still too lean, burned a hole through the PTO cylinder again. One thing I worry about is that the crank could be a few degrees out of phase as it ran crappy on the low end but smoothed out on the top end.

Yes if the crank is out of phase it will burn the rear piston.
