97 xp aceleration problem

Check the amp connectors on the MPEM. They are the 2 big harnesses that plug into it.

I had a similiar problem on mine and it was a faulty connection in the harness.

I pulled the harness out from the computer and there was a broken tab that holds the wire in the connector and it kept bouncing around.

Let me reprhrase that.

The amp connectors, if there is a faulty connection will cause the problem with not reaching max RPMs. Like you said it takes hitting a wave to get the thrust....there is a bad connection somewhere.

Hard starts, your carbs are not adjusted right.

1 1/4 is spec, but you don't always end up there.

You need to do plug chops.
