  • How to seal crankcase ?

Can anybody tell me what I suppose to use to seal crankcase, should I use Loctite 515?
What should I use on bolts? 515, 242? or 271/272? OEM spec has Molykote 111 which is impossible to find in US what should I use there if anything?

Should I use primer N on case halfs?

    Thanks

For the case halves you can use Loctite gasket maker.

For the bolts you can use any medium strength high heat thread locker.

      So Loctite 515 will work?
What about Molykote 111 why it's on original spec and do I have to worry about it or not? What is correct substitute for it?

If its a DI dont use 515. I use 3bond 1104 on all cases and have nevr had a leak. Even on 1050's with a spacer unber the cyl and no gaskets, under water pressure still no leak.

I'm curious to know more about the 1104 from Threebond. I've always used 1211 on crankcase halves and have never had a problem with it leaking. I know 1104 is a 1/3 of the cost and I was told to use 1211, so I did just that. The price difference and the fact that it says something like it is made to seal large voids scared me off.
