  • fuel filters become mushy

Have a 95 Montego Deluxe. Notice my fuel filter was very pliable and soft. Replaced with new stock filter and 4 weeks later, it seems mushy. Is this new gas causing this? Should I just change to a generic automotive fuel filter?

No don't use auto filters many of them don't flow fuel as fast as they need to. We sell a high flow filter for 3 or 4 bucks that will work fine.

Is this new gas making the plastic soft? Also, p/n for the filter

part #36-010, $3.95 The fuel we get now has a short life span if used without treatment like sta-bil or others and it breaks down internal carb and fuel system parts faster.
