  • Fx 140 timing

Replaced head gasket on 2004 FX 140, timed it correctly(I think). After reassembly it will not rev up when unless you removed airbox. After it has started then the airbox can be replaced and it runs fine until it sits for several hours, then you have to do the airbox removal again. Injectors were rebuilt and tested, not leaking. Is there such a thing as late or early timing that will cause this, ie. one tooth off either way. Haven't done a compression test yet. The motor was full of water from bad head gasket. Possibly stuck rings? Thanks

I have seen this happen when the T.P.S is failing or there is a wiring harness issue, bring it in to a yamaha shop and have them check it out.
