  • Shuts down

2001 Waverunner 1200XL. Sat up for a year and ran hooked to a garden hose. Put it in the water this year and it started off good, came up on plain and fell on its nose. I ran Sea Foam in it because I thought the carb may be gummed up. Result was the same. Took it to a local Polaris dealer (no Yamaha dealers in the area). He installed new plugs took it out and ran it. Results were, it ran for about five minutes and fell on its nose. The mechanic said that it had a noise (maybe a rod knocking in the rear cylinder) coming from the rea cylinder. That was news to me.
Backround, had a new top end installed approximately 12 hours ago. Reason for new top end, had two burnt pistons.
    Any ideas?
I do not want to put money in this if I don't need to.

Never just install a top end with out pressure checking the bottom end. A bad crank seal could have been the cause of the top end failing. If the carbs are gummed up then sea foam is not going to clean them out regardless of what the product says. Take the carbs apart and go through them.
